FORTVILLE, Ind.– Have you ever seen a fiberglass pool traveling down a highway, strapped to the back of a trailer, and thought, “How do they make those things?”
It’s actually a really cool process, and quite complex. To help people better understand how a fiberglass pool is made, Indiana fiberglass pool manufacturer Thursday Pools created a video that shows this amazing manufacturing process. From the first molecules of ground glass being spun into fiberglass, through the painstaking steps of creating a mold, creating and finishing the shell and then carefully lifting the shell off the mold with a massive crane and loading it onto a trailer for transport– it’s all fascinating and almost impossible to believe.
Another impressive factor in the way Thursday Pools creates a fiberglass pool is in the quality assurance. Thursday Pools is the fiberglass pool industry’s only ISO 9001 and ISO 14001-certified manufacturer, so quality assurance tests are conducted throughout the entire process. At every step along the way, data is measured, recorded and analyzed, as the pool makes its way to final inspection, which is a multi-step process that includes a visual inspection and ultrasonic measurements to check the pool’s thickness and total weight. All of this data is recorded for every pool produced.
If you’re a person who often asks the question, “How did they do that?” this is a video you need to watch.
