Thursday Pools Brings Water Safety to Indiana Classrooms
Indiana Governor Mike Pence proclaimed May 2014 Water Safety Month. To support the efforts of the Governor to raise awareness and education about water safety, Thursday Pools, a local manufacturer of one-piece fiberglass pools, took time to visit with local elementary students to teach them water safety. During their visits, kindergarten student learned the importance of playing it safe around water. The students were taught the Safe Swimmer Pledge. The pledge consists of 5 golden rules that will help make children safer around water. “Summer by the pool remains an ideal pastime for Indiana families. As a swimming pool manufacturer, we see it as a responsibility to educate pool owners and pool goers on the importance of water safety.” Says Bill Khamis, owner of Thursday Pools LLC, when asked why this was important to Thursday Pools.
“As pool owners everywhere rush to open the pools up for Memorial Day weekend, it is important to talk to your kids about water safety and this is a great time of year to do it.” –says Annie Brock, Director of Business Development.
As members of the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals, Thursday Pools supports the concept of layers of protection, which means you should never rely on only one means of protecting your child around the pool area. There is no greater means of protecting your child around water than to have adult supervision.
