Make Waves with Your Next Pool Party
You’ve got the perfect pool—now it’s time to throw the perfect poolside party. Whether you’re planning a summer bash or looking to capture that one-of-a-kind, photo-ready moment for our contest, we’ve got some fun ideas to get you started.
Tropical Luau
Transform your backyard into a Hawaiian escape with grass skirts, flamingo floats, and pineapple centerpieces. Pass out flower leis at the door and put on a playlist of ukulele tunes as guests sip from fun coconut cups. Hang flame-free electric tiki torches around the pool, fire up the fire pit, and offer children or other guests DIY flower and vine crown kits to keep the island vibes flowing.
Sun Citrus Splash: Punch That Packs a Smile
- 4 cups orange juice
- 2 cups pineapple juice
- 1 liter lemon-lime soda
- ½ cup grenadine for color (pour slowly for a sunrise effect!)
- Optional: fresh orange and lime slices for garnish
Serve chilled in a clear pitcher to show off the layers and colors!
Pork Tenderloin Sliders with Pineapple Mango Chutney: Sweet & Savory
- 16 sliced Hawaiian buns
- 2 pounds trimmed pork tenderloin
- ½ cup classic vinaigrette salad dressing
Chutney:
- 4 to 6 mangos, peeled and cubed
- 1 pineapple, peeled and cubed
- 2 cloves of garlic, pressed
- 3 tablespoons unseasoned rice vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Marinate pork in vinaigrette for 1 hour. Mix chutney ingredients and chill for 1 hour.
Grill pork to 150°F, rest under foil, then slice thinly.
Assemble sandwiches with pork and chutney. Spear with a toothpick or bamboo skewer.
Neon Nights
Turn your pool into a glow-in-the-dark dance floor with blacklights, neon LED string lights, and color-changing pool globes. Hand out glow stick necklaces and bracelets as party favors, and invite guests to wear white or neon clothing for max blacklight brilliance. Add a playlist full of high-energy pop hits and techno dance bangers to keep the vibes electric from sundown to splashdown.
Glow Punch: Bright Neon Refreshment
- 6 cups lemonade
- 3 cups lemon-lime soda
- Âľ cup blue raspberry syrup or drink mix
Stir ingredients together in a large punch bowl or pitcher. Offer light-up straws, LED-glowing artificial ice cubes, or neon drink stirrers, then serve in clear cups so all the bright colors and accessories pop!
Neon Nachos: Snack with a Zing
- 2 bags blue corn tortilla chips
- 1 cup shredded cheddar
- 1 cup pepper jack cheese
- 1 cup fresh mango, diced
- 1 cup black beans
- ½ cup red onions, finely chopped
- 2 jalapeños, thinly sliced
- ½ cup cilantro leaves
- Lime wedges
Preheat oven broiler and spread chips on baking sheets, topping with cheese, beans, and onions. Broil for 3 to 5 minutes until the cheese melts.
Remove nachos from the oven and top with mango, jalapeños, and cilantro. Serve with lime wedges on the side.
Red, White, & Pool
Bring bold summer energy to your backyard with patriotic flair. Think red, white, and blue pool floats, tableware, and towel stacks. String star-shaped lanterns along the fence and add festive red, white, and blue balloon garlands near the snack table. Hand out themed sunglasses or star-spangled beach balls as party favors, and keep the playlist rolling with summer country classics and all-American anthems. Cap off the night with sparklers (handled by responsible grown-ups, of course) and a dessert that screams USA summer celebration.
All-American Sliders: Fire Up the Flavor
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 24 slider buns
- Sliced cheddar cheese
- Lettuce, pickles, and sliced red onions
- Ketchup and mustard
Mix ground beef with worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Form into 24 mini patties and grill over medium-high heat for 3 to 5 minutes per side. Add cheese in the final minute and lightly toast the interiors of the buns before assembling sliders and adding classic, all-American burger fixings.
Firecracker Ice Cream Sandwiches: Chill with a Pop
- Box of classic vanilla ice cream sandwiches
- Red, white, and blue sprinkles
It’s been a long day and a great party. Cap it off with an easy and fun dessert. Unwrap sandwiches and roll the exposed ice cream sides in the patriotic sprinkles.
Freeze again for at least 20 minutes, and serve with a sparkler (responsible adults only!) for that true firecracker finish.

Participants may submit multiple entries during the contest period. However, each entry must be unique. The same photos and/or videos may not be submitted more than once. Duplicate submissions of the same image will be disqualified. By submitting photos or videos, participants affirm: you are the original photographer or rights holder; you grant Thursday Pools a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, reproduce, distribute, publish, and display the photos and/or videos for marketing, promotional, or commercial purposes. You waive any claim to royalties, notice, or approval of future use. By participating, you release Thursday Pools and its affiliates, employees, agents, contractors, and representatives from any and all claims, damages, or liabilities arising from submission and use of your photo, participation in the contest, acceptance or use of any prize, and alleged infringement or privacy violations. This release applies under all applicable U.S. state laws.
Odds of winning depend on the number of entries. Bi-monthly random prize drawings will be held twice per month to select winners from eligible entries. Quarterly random prize drawings will be done four times annually to select a winner from eligible entries. One grand prize drawing will be randomly selected from all entries and announced on Memorial Day Weekend 2026. Exact prizes may vary or be substituted for prizes of equal value. No purchase is required to enter or win. A purchase will not improve your chances. Thursday Pools reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the contest at any time for any reason.
